INTERNATIONAL SPECIAL NEEDS ADOPTION

International Special Needs adoption can come with its own set of hurdles.  Have you or anyone you know actually adopted a child with Trisomy 21 from another country?  If you have, we would love to hear from you!

When I was first looking to adopt a child with Trisomy 21, I contacted a lady from the Downsideup organization and talked with her at some length about adopting a child from Russia. Unfortunately, I could get no definitive answer from Canada on immigration issues and they basically said they would decide when I brought the child in to the country. I just couldn't risk doing all that and then realizing after I had met him/her and fallen in love that it wouldn't work out. Some day, though,  I believe I will have the strength to fight the fight and bring a child from there home .
